What happens when these two organizations partner together? An AWESOME opportunity to build your community and career!

This is an opportunity to spend one year serving full-time to make a difference here at home. This is a unique chance to improve your life and the lives of others. AmeriCorps VISTA is about helping all individuals reach their fullest potential. VISTA is designed to build the capacity of an organization and enhance its ability to serve the community. As a result, VISTA impacts both the person serving as well as the individuals served. From Alaska to Puerto Rico, AmeriCorps VISTA members are building communities while building their careers. VISTA candidates must be willing to commit to the VISTA Service Commitment for 1 year with the expectation of a Living Allowance of no more than $12,311. Put your power to work for an organization that believes in the power of work as the Goodwill Mission Marketing VISTA!

What this VISTA project is all about:

Goodwill of Central Iowa is commonly known for their stores and for having a charitable aspect, but our market is not well-versed in the mission behind the stores. The VISTA will work closely with our Mission Services team to help build a database of success stories, both long-term and recent, and help us to tell the story of our non-profit organization. The individual will also do an assessment of needs for the Mission Services team to help educate our communities through marketing materials.

This role will work from our Johnston, Iowa headquarters. Located just north of the Des Moines metro, our headquarters hosts a variety of skills training and employment services programs, as well as a warehouse and retail location. This allows for a diverse learning experience with an exceptional team of operational and mission team members, as well as trainees and job seekers.

This year long project will have you discovering best practices, developing strategy and executing a story telling campaign that helps us reach more job seekers and trainees. With the objective of developing effective communication strategies on a variety of platforms. The ideal candidate will be people focused, goal-oriented, and passionately committed to making a contribution to the growth of others.
