What this VISTA project is all about:
Through this project we seek to better assist key outreach efforts to key constituencies, such as re-entering citizens, immigrants and refugees, and people disabilities, with the development of Digital Skills Curriculum to meet the needs of an ever-changing workplace dynamic. The project will focus on developing appropriate curriculum based on a variety of language, cognition, and basic exposure needs, marketing the programming, recruiting volunteers to support the programming, and collaborating with other community-based organizations to increase the impact of digital skills literacy in Polk and Jasper counties.
This role will work from our Des Moines Goodwill Career Connection Center. Goodwill of Central Iowa’s Career Connection Centers are one-stop shops for career development and job search assistance. We provide free services to help individuals get a job, earn a better job, and gain the skills needed for a rewarding career.
This year long project will have you discovering best practices, developing strategy and executing a digital skills campaign that helps us reach more job seekers and employers. The key objective will be to develop curriculum and effective strategies for engaging employers, job seekers and community partners. The ideal candidate will be people-focused, goal-oriented, and passionately committed to making a contribution to the growth of others.

Benefits of AmeriCorps VISTA Service:
*The project period is: August 2018 to August 2019. VISTAs cannot hold a full-time job in addition to their service, as the volunteer assignment should be the paramount focus of the AmeriCorps VISTA member. However, VISTAs are permitted to have a part-time position unrelated to their assigned project and volunteer assignment.
