    We are seeking a dedicated individual to be our next Industrial Skills Trainer.  As an Industrial Skills Trainer you will deliver programming through supervising, training, and coaching trainees (individuals with disabilities or individuals with barriers to employment) in the areas of industrial services (i.e., forklift operation, pallet jack operation, baler operation, etc.). You will monitor activities and schedules of trainees to ensure the goals of the skills curriculum are achieved.     What you'll do here

    • Train, coach, and engage trainees to achieve success
    • Monitor and verify the quality of work performed by trainees through regular updates of the competency matrix
    • Maintain documentation of trainee's participation and behaviors in activities, classes, and work time
    • Develop schedules, maintain attendance records, and order supplies for inventory
    • Follow and teach safe work practices including, but not limited to, handling of materials, transportation, and lifting
    • Recommend and implement improvements to training methods and service quality
    • Adhere to Goodwill of Central Iowa's policies and procedures and ensure trainees adhere as well, including CARF standards, safety and security regulations and HIPAA
    • Attend in-service trainings, organizational and departmental meetings as needed


    What you’ll need

    • An Associate's degree in human services or a related field and/or a combination of education and experience
    • A minimum of one year of related experience is required (experience coaching and/or training others strongly preferred)
    • Must be able to work cooperatively and communicate effectively with trainees of all abilities
    • Must be able to create and foster a collaborative environment
    • Must be able to work independently in a changing environment, demonstrate flexibility and patience
    • Must obtain first aid/CPR certification
    • Must pass a motor vehicle record check and criminal background check, including dependent adult and child abuse database
    • Must possess a valid Iowa driver's license, a Class D Chauffer's designation, and ability to provide proof of personal vehicle insurance with a minimum of $100,000/person and $300,000/accident auto insurance liability coverage

    • Have knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects

    • Ability to present information in both a classroom and 1:1 setting
    • Be flexible to a changing work environment
    • Have a high level of written and verbal communication skills
    • Be safety minded
