    Goodwill of Central Iowa has a unique opportunity for a local/regional day shift Class A truck driver.  This position will receive/load and deliver/unload materials, send and receive communication, advise, direct, and instruct truck helpers.  You will drive a tractor-trailer or straight truck in compliance with DOT and FMCSA regulations.  Drivers are asked to monitor, report on and maintain truck conditions, as well as complete daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections.  Drivers must also greet, develop, and maintain positive relationships.  Drivers are required to operate a forklift to load/unload.  Adhering to safety and training standards is a must. 


    What you'll do here:

    • Receive, review, and route daily scheduled pick-up/delivery tickets/shipping list
    • Secure and receive materials needed for pick-up/delivery
    • Carry, lift, push, wrap/unwrap, pack/unpack, or tie-down all materials/merchandise shipped or received
    • Advise, direct, and instruct truck helpers on loading, handling, wrapping material, and customer relations.
    • Conduct routine service, monitor and report truck condition through distribution of daily trucker's report
    • Drive truck in a safe and efficient manner for all pick-ups and deliveries
    • Exhibit excellent customer service and interact with others in a positive manner
    • Comply with all DOT and FMCSA regulations
    • Attend facility meetings and in-service training as needed
    • Drive forklift in a safe and efficient manner
    • Follow safety and security procedures


    What you’ll need:

    • High school diploma and/or equivalent, a transportation training certificate from an accredited training school or from military service with a valid CDL Class A license and a good safety record
    • Knowledge of how to routinely service and perform maintenance on trucks
    • Ability to determine mechanical failure and/or irregularity in truck operation
    • Ability to carry, lift, push or pull 50 pounds
    • Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing
    • Ability to work with a variety of people in a positive manner
    • A good driving record and be insurable
    • Ability to pass a criminal background check and dependent adult and child abuse background check
    • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening
    • Must be able to show proof of and maintain DOT medical certificate
